I almost have trouble believing it.
The Indiana Pacers just defeated another (formerly) 0.500 team in the Toronto Raptors (the others have been Orlando and Boston), coming from 23-points behind to snatch a well-earned 105-101 victory at Conseco Fieldhouse. The occurrence is so rare it calls for celebration.
With the win, the Pacers improve to 12-25 for the season. I can almost sniff the 11th place position in the Eastern Conference!
Jarrett Jack (who left the Pacers in the offseason to join the Raptors) started and played for 27 minutes, but only managed to score 5 points on 2-9 shooting, and had 3 turnovers. If only he stayed with the Pacers, he would have gotten a definite starting role, more minutes and more shots per game. Bad luck to him. Serves him right.
For the Pacers, Troy Murphy started out on fire, and ended up with 20 points and 16 rebounds. Danny Granger had 23 on a more respectable 9-19 shooting performance, and Mike Dunleavy added 15 points in 28 minutes off the bench.
But again, the big surprise was 2nd round pick, rookie AJ Price. 16 points off the bench, including 8 points and 2 big three-pointers in the 4th quarter to assist in the Pacers' furious comeback. If he keeps this up, it won't be a surprise anymore. Could he be the future point guard the Pacers have been searching for?
